When the house was built, the railing only went part way up the stairs. We found a railing profile that was very close to the existing one, and used it to fabricate the section you see at the top of the stairs. Note the returns into the wall – that is a building code requirement to prevent a handbag or shoulder bag from getting caught and causing an accident.
